Since, perhaps, the people in the crowd are not known to you or you are not familiar to them, it is not proper to be so informal as to address the crowd with the word Hi. i think that everyone is everything within ourselves and our human organs.

I thought 'you' originally was (and still is) a plural pronoun, which in turn became used for the singular in place of 'ye.' The main point you are missing is that both of these words command a verb for a SINGULAR noun. All you have to do is say hi to everybody in your school or compliment others if you want to.

"Hi Everybody" is much more normal but the second word is unnecessary. In the south people say "Hi, Y'all" not "Hi All. I rather see Hi Everyone.

I have to say I agree with Nonie--"everybody" seems to imply taking the group as a body while "everyone" puts more emphasis on taking the group as individuals.

I'm not sure that was the intent of your question, but it is a valid question.

I do see “Hi All” occasionally but it's usually on a group e-mail sent to the whole company e-mail address all@...com. i have found it and so shall you. It is becoming rarer, though. He'd go around, and we would say hi to everybody, and everybody would wish us a happy birthday.

But I disagree with RushanFrass who says, " 'Everyone’ is used in the passive voice while ‘everybody’ is used in the active voice…" (I also object to the casual use of the stray ellipsis, but let it pass.). No point trying to format informal expressions with subjective connotations.

You should be using "Y'all" not "All." It may not sound as formal as some other options, but at this point it's definitely part of the language. Improper English is improper whether its Bostonian or Hillbilly. "their" with singular antecedents is not incorrect. Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary:everybody = everyoneanybody = anyonenobody = no onesomebody = someone. Some other indefinate pronouns: one, anyone, someone, each, anybody, somebody, nobody, neither, and either. The idea being that 'you all' was a way of expressing the plural you that doesn't exist per se in English.
